General Info

See this section for the methods of charging for work done. Basically, Dream RC’s goal is to build without building a large inventory of planes. Brian likes to build and he is not trying to make a fortune from the work. The rates are reasonable, the shop stays busy and that is the way he likes it.

The normal process for a completed project is to test all the equipment and the motor in the shop. If the motor is new, it will have several tanks run through it before the first flight. Brian will then meet you at the field of your choice and you will both pre-flight the plane so that you are sure all the bolts are tight and the surfaces move in the correct direction. Brian will fly the plane and after it is up and trimmed, you will have the transmitter. The ownership of the plane passes to you at that point. Should he crash the plane, then you get a new one at no cost to you. You can modify this process any way you wish, and we will discuss this at the time of agreement on the project.

With the airplane you will get:
  • A book showing the construction of the plane.
    • The settings dialed into the plane (incidences, etc.)
    • Check sheets used in the final setup of the plane.
    • A sheet on how to trim your new plane properly.
    • Some flight logs for recording the changes we make to the plane
  • A kit of spare parts that will duplicate the fittings on the plane. (This kit is a handy place to store the bolts that come off as you take the plane apart as well as the storage of spares.)
  • Any special tools required to adjust the plane
Kit Construction Projects
We build kits of any size and any sort of power plant. There is a large inventory of wood and equipment and Brian has done projects that were built up, foam with sheeting, composite, fiberglass, abs and combinations. The shop is equipped for vacuum bagging as well as painting any sort of paint. Through Radio South, we can paint to match any Monokote or Ultracote color.  Size really doesn’t matter…..
ARF Construction Projects
ARFs are a service done for the customers and it really is not the part of building Brian enjoys most.   He will always try to do it with the customer, so that you can learn how to set and service all the equipment and a little about what a well-built plane looks like on the inside. This is a learning experience for you and a chance to convert one flyer to a builder.
Scratch Builds

This is a builder’s favorite thing to do because it will challenge him in a way the kits can not.  As Brian began building, he was taught all forms of building and all work was scratch.  The training began with hand-launch gliders and worked through all forms of the business. Scratch building is the basis of all new plane development, and we do a bit of that as well. Brian will soon be building a 50cc float plane, as they live on a lovely lake, and the project is exciting.

We can scratch build anything you have plans for, or we can design about anything else and then build the plane.
Crash Rebuilds

Crashes happen and Brian will do a fair amount of crash repair.  This is vastly different than building and it requires materials and tools the normal builder will not have.  People that do not build feel like they can repair crash damage and that is not the case.  If you have tried to repair a crash and then given up, you can expect the repair to cost substantially more than it would have if you had just given us the plane in the first place.  Brian will usually have to do demolition of your work before the repair can begin.  This is a lot more than just using epoxy on the parts that are hurt.

As with all the projects, you decide how much you want done and the time and cost are a result of the work to be done.
Rescue Builds
If you have a plane that you have been building and have run out of time or motivation, we will finish the build for you.  This is not normally a problem as we will simply follow the process to find out what you want done and who will supply the materials and equipment needed.  The time and cost are a result of that process and the repair will be to your satisfaction or we will keep working on the plane.
